Professor Mohamed Aly is a faculty in the Department of Geosciences, the Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies (CAST), the Arkansas Center for Space & Planetary Sciences, and the Environmental Dynamics (ENDY) Program at the University of Arkansas. Professor Aly’s research interests include Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (InSAR), digital image processing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), crustal deformation modeling, and geohazard assessment. As a geoscientist, he integrates remote sensing and GIS geospatial technologies to assess, monitor, and model geothermal processes and geohazards such as active volcanoes, earthquakes, landslides, and ground subsidence. Dr. Aly is a principal investigator and co-investigator on numerous research projects and proposals sponsored by the National Aeronautics & Space Administration (NASA), the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the European Space Agency (ESA), the German Space Agency (DLR), and the Japanese Space Agency (JAXA). His teaching interests encompass undergraduate and graduate courses involving cutting-edge geospatial technologies, natural hazards, and physical geology.
